A busy month on the parliamentary front; the Government and Opposition have announced appointments to the Financial Services portfolio. A slew of state-based superannuation legislation has also been progressed. APRA has issued several new and remade Superannuation Reporting Standards and released its quarterly sector statistics. ASIC has announced its reporting and audit priorities, and intends to appeal a landmark decision on the definition of ‘financial product’ under the Corporations Act. AUSTRAC and AFCA are respectively consulting on rule changes, and the ATO has released several resources to assist members and RSEs to manage account security. QSuper looks set to settle a class action related to insurance premium classifications.
