ASIC has secured an enforceable undertaking that will see Macquarie compensate customers exposed to Shield and First Guardian. In three separate reports, the regulator has called for uplift in super auditors’ approach to valuations, outlined further regulatory simplification actions, and provided an update on intended breach report data publication.  

Treasury is consulting on a legislative approach to defining and regulating digital assets and exchanges. A civil penalty action reenforces the importance of accuracy in member communications, and an intended appeal by ASIC will shed light on the meaning of financial product in the context of fixed-yield crypto arrangements. A private member’s bill proposes combatting the gender super gap through spousal redistribution.
